The end of Schengen?

The end of Schengen? | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it
Europe’s passport-free Schengen zone is facing the biggest test of its two-decade existence after Sweden  re-imposed controls on visitors crossing from Denmark across what had been one of most open borders in the world. Hours after the measures came into effect, Denmark announced it would slap new controls on its own border with Germany, while Berlin warned that the 26-nation zone of passport-free travel was now “in danger”.

Why Copenhagen Can Become Europe's Crowd Capital - Crowdsourcing Week

Why Copenhagen Can Become Europe's Crowd Capital - Crowdsourcing Week | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it
The city of Copenhagen is making a public call to citizens, companies and government to make the transition to the new, connected and inclusive economy. With many great cities in the running, it is no mean feat that Copenhagen nabbed the top spot, for two years in a row, as Fast Company’s most innovative city in Europe. According to The Global Innovation Index 2014, Denmark remains one of the world’s top 10 most innovative countries. There is a deliberate attempt all around to model behavior, mindsets and infrastructure for a more efficient, resource -sharing, low impact lifestyle while maintaining a high standard of living which brings me to the question — are efficient cities more crowd dependent or cooperative? Or are crowd supportive cities smarter and more innovative? This isn’t a chicken-egg question but the result of a positive feedback loop underscoring the notion that collaboration breeds inventiveness.

I could see why maybe Copenhagen can be a very crowded area. By looking at the photo you can see the little to no space the house have from one another, and when reading; either people walked or rode a bike to get places can be eco-friendly, but can also annoy the many other citizens trying to get by on there every day life.

Brave little Denmark leads war against coal | Al Jazeera America

Brave little Denmark leads war against coal | Al Jazeera America | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it
Germany has been credited for paving Europe’s way to a renewables-led, zero-carbon future. But the world’s true climate champion is Denmark, which has just set the bar another notch higher than Germany by proposing to accelerate its phase-out of coal-fired power plants. Denmark could be coal-free by 2025 — five years ahead of schedule — and generate more than 70 percent of its energy from renewable sources.

The Mobile Fablab | Kopenlab | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

FabLab Denmark grants ordinary people access to digital manufacturing technology, such as 3D printers, laser cutters and CNC machines. It belongs to a global network of fabrication laboratories that have been established to promote innovation and invention by providing public access to these tools that are normally reserved for professionals. These creative and hi-tech workshops follow MIT’s Fab Charter whose goal is to promote innovation through prototyping, product development and idea generation. FabLab Denmark takes the charter seriously, which means that in exchange for offering free access to the machines, you are expected to let them know what you are using the machines for and contribute to making the labs even better.
