Meet the 'crazy Left' French protesters with no leaders and no demands | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it
The world started anew last Thursday week, on the evening of 31 March 2016. On that night, a few hundred young people, and some not so young, came together on the Place de la République in Paris.

They are still there – or at least they turn up at 6pm each day and leave at midnight. Their numbers are growing, although not as fast as they claim. There are 1,000 present on most evenings.

France, The New Startup Factory — Medium | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

France has a strong scientific tradition: 13 Nobel prizes in physics, 8 in chemistry, 13 in medicine. French mathematicians have won a quarter of Fields Medals awarded since 1923. The higher education system is efficient and free. Oui! You heard it, free! The system now produces around 80,000 engineers and 70,000 PhDs — half of them foreign born — per year. Such educational efforts have created a 1,000,000+ strong engineering workforce, the largest in Europe alongside Germany. No wonder so many French engineers work at some of the best of America’s high-tech companies, including Apple, Tesla, Facebook, Salesforce and Google.

How One Supermarket Fights Food Waste with Ugly Fruits and Veggies

How One Supermarket Fights Food Waste with Ugly Fruits and Veggies | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it
Over 800 million people around the world suffer from food insecurity, and yet, global food waste continues to be a major issue with one-third of all food produced being thrown away. One reason for this is that we’re too damn picky about our fruits and vegetables. Most of us want these foods to look flawless, so anything that is not perfectly shaped gets thrown away before it even hits the market.

New French Law Passed: All New Rooftops Must Be Covered With Plants Or Solar Panels

New French Law Passed: All New Rooftops Must Be Covered With Plants Or Solar Panels | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it
Do you live in France? If you're getting a new house, you might have to follow this incredible, sustainable law. A new law that was passed that mandates that new buildings in commercial lots need to have either plants or solar panels on the roof. Having a garden on your roof sounds like a paradise, one that's…
katelyn wellsby's curator insight, September 14, 2015 11:06 AM

A law that makes you have to have plants or solar panels on top of your roof. I'm pretty sure a lot of people think that law would be stupid but if you read having that on top of your roof can help prevent leaks, provides a home to small critters and insects and importantly it connects us back to nature. And let's be honest having plants all over your roof would be beautiful to have. If someone doesn't do research on what having plants or solar panels on your roof, they wouldn't like the idea of having to have one of the other on there roof.

Bryan "Sandstorm" Cepeda's curator insight, September 14, 2015 11:07 AM

This is a good law. Though I don't know how solar plants could effect a major city
