Just over 12 hours after Sony announced its own virtual reality initiative, Project Morpheus, Oculus VR has revealed its own Oculus Rift Dev Kit 2 (DK2). Like the Crystal Cove prototype, DK2 employs a low-persistence OLED display as a means to eliminate motion blur and judder, which are known to cause simulator sickness.

Tim van Gelder: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_van_... - Tim van Gelder was a founder of Austhink Software, an Australian software development company, and is the Managing Director of Austhink Consulting. He was born in Australia, educated at the University of Melbourne (BA, 1984), the University of Pittsburgh (PhD, 1989), and held academic positions at Indiana University and the Australian National University before returning to Melbourne as an Australian Research Council QEII Research Fellow. In 1998, he transitioned to part-time academic work allowing him to pursue private training and consulting, and in 2005 began working full-time at Austhink Software. In 2009 he transitioned to Managing Director of Austhink Consulting.

Our goal is to find a way to collaboratively share our common goods without being depended on trading via exchange of goods and money. The concept is to eliminate the process of trading and concentrate on a fair voting mechanism giving everyone the possibility to distribute the resources in a direct and democratic fashion. We’ll keep you updated on our first week of coding and you will be able to follow our progress, on this blog and the social networks.

Start with that carton of orange juice in your fridge, which might advertise it’s worth three points, redeemable for discounts and prizes. It’s a game. What about frequent-flier miles, which are games that reward loyalty? Mega Millions, Powerball, Take Five and other state lotteries? Games. Nissan has an in-car gaming system that encourages drivers to compete for best efficiency levels (Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum). Talk about a mobile game. You could look at Twitter as a game, the pay off being more and more followers and greater numbers of retweets the more you use it.
