Energy Efficiency and Social Change Part II

Energy Efficiency and Social Change Part II | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

A few weeks ago I wrote about Jeremy Rifkin’s latest book titled The Zero Marginal Cost Society.  It has been a most interesting read and for me has created a new way of interpreting many current events.  In that post I mostly focused on the economic transformations Rifkin sees in the not-to-distant future, and have wondered what that means for the future of construction, especially residential.  He touches upon it a little, but most of his writing is about economic transformation on a societal scale.  In this post I will delve into what little information is available about changes coming to construction and the coming of the sharing society.  But first a little more background.

This Is Lateral Power - YouTube

What happens when an Internet revolution merges with a renewable energy revolution? Jeremy Rifkin, author of 19 books on the impact of scientific and technological changes on the economy, the workforce, society, and the environment and adviser to President Nicolas Sarkozy of France, Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany, speaks about a new Third Industrial Revolution - one based on a distributed, lateral power. The result may just be a sustainable world.

The concept of lateral power - it`s the opposite of hirachical power. Rifkin puts it in the context of energy and the internet...the gateway to a sustainable future!

sehr interessant.
