Uber has drawn an investment from Baidu, the last of the three big Chinese Internet conglomerates to put money into a car service app
Jake Red Dorman's curator insight, December 17, 2014 10:37 AM

Uber is trying to catch up to the other taxi service companies. They also hope to be the main taxi app service for China, and luckily for uber, the leaders of the internet industry have shown an increase interest in American technology companies. The key to their success in becoming bigger in China is a, “local partner.” Uber is slowly working up to their rival companies but it is taking a little bit of time.

Baojia Distributed Defense System in China - P2P Foundation

Baojia Distributed Defense System in China - P2P Foundation | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it
"One was the baojia system 保甲制度 of local militias which Chancellor Wang invented. This system radically devolved military affairs and law enforcement, and assigned greater responsibilities to the most local level and to the lowest ranks, and it met with resounding success where it was implemented. (When it was reintroduced during the Qing Dynasty, however, it met with far less.) Under the baojia system, ten families would be organised into a bao, and one family would be given a wooden placard designating them as the baozhang 保長 (the bao captain).

The environment minister promises "transparency" - hours after Chinese internet censors scrubbed a viral documentary about pollution
Zhang ZheWei's curator insight, April 6, 2015 9:21 AM

I think that this environmental pollution is due to the incapability of the government. Firstly they did not enforce on the law for the environment problem. Not only that they try the bluff  through the issue on certain environment problem by not stating the law clearly. Allowing the environment problem to worsen as no one can enforce law on those industries destroying the environment. However, this environment pollution can be slowly resolved as the government starts to emphasize on the air pollution and the environment protection by bringing up new laws that will help the environment to improve. And there are solution for the citizens of china to stop the law breaker from destroying the environment. I believe few years later china's pollution problems will improve.

Open Innovation and IP Trends in China: Insights from the Utah-Qinghai ... - Diplomatic Courier

Open Innovation and IP Trends in China: Insights from the Utah-Qinghai ... - Diplomatic Courier | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

“Open innovation” is often used to describe collaboration with outside partners to accelerate innovation. Dialog about open innovation frequently assumes that it is recent and Western, but successful open innovation is not unique to the West. Innovation via cooperation between unlikely partners has been a characteristic of China for centuries. Relevant terms are guanxi (often translated as “relationships”) andyuanfen (fate that brings partners together). In China, guanxi and yuanfen have allowed proximity and chance to bring business partners together when there was a basis of trust, resulting in innovative alliances. The fusion of skillsets in China’s manufacturing economy often stems from collaborative innovation, though the results are often decried as merely the machinery of copying.
