Exposed: Manufacturing conglomerate’s plan for moving humans off of Earth

Exposed: Manufacturing conglomerate’s plan for moving humans off of Earth | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it
Sean Ragan of MAKE magazine just posted this amazing graphic, which he tracked down after being mildly obsessed with it for more than a decade. It’s an “Integrated Space Plan” drawn up by Rockwell International, a conglomerate of manufacturing companies in the aerospace, electronics, and truck component industries. The plan was created in the ’80s, and is supposed to be a detailed flow chart for establishing a permanent human presence in space. And it. Is. Amazing.

You can click to make this teeny version a little bigger, but for serious evaluation you should get the PDF from MAKE. Once you do that, you can try to actually follow the plan — it runs chronologically from top to bottom, the arrowed lines denote “evolutionary, supporting, or synergistic relationships” and “communication/data links,” and big circles are “plateaus of human technological achievement.” Or you can just bask in the fractal weirdness of the thing. Nodes on the chart include goals like “Interstellar Traversing World Ships” and “Create New Moons for Mars If Required.”

As far as I can tell we’re currently supposed to be in the “Routine Access to Space Achieved” plateau AND the “Biplanetary Civilization Evolves to Exploit Extraterrestrial Resources” plateau, so we can see how well this is working out..

NASA claims hidden portals between Earth and Sun exist - setting up a mission to find them | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it
A portal is a shortcut, a guide, a door into the unknown - an extraordinary opening in space or time that connects travelers to distant realms.

Thinking SCI-FI? Well, read on.

NASA-funded researcher and plasma physicist Jack Scudder of the University of Iowa claims he has figured out a way how to find them. ”We call them X-points or electron diffusion regions,” he explains.

“They’re places where the magnetic field of Earth connects to the magnetic field of the Sun, creating an uninterrupted path leading from our own planet to the Sun’s atmosphere 93 million miles away.”

Men in Black III – Hiding the truth in plain sight | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it

"It is a fact that psychological warfare has been used to keep the truth behind the UFO/flying saucer phenomenon and the extraterrestrial hypothesis from the public.

The movie industry has been a part of this secret effort. Scriptwriters and movie producers have been covertly recruited to assist the officially sanctioned government policy of educating the public that there is no truth to the extraterrestrial hypothesis.

Yet whistleblowers and witnesses have come forward to reveal the reality of extraterrestrials among us...

Occupy Asteroids? To Boldly Share What No One Has Shared Before

Occupy Asteroids? To Boldly Share What No One Has Shared Before | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it

"The company, called Planetary Resources, Inc., intends to mine 100 or more near-Earth asteroids for resources including water and various precious metals."

"Space resources are “just so valuable” and “really are the low-hanging fruit of the solar system,” co-founder and co-chairman Eric Anderson told SPACE.com. The idea is to generate resources in space sufficient to impel additional colonization efforts, creating a network of veritable “in-space gas stations” to fuel ongoing and expanding operations."

My comment:

Should space be a commons? Or should it be "first come, first served"?

If space and what flies around out there, including other planets and stars, are to be a commons, who is to administer/steward it, and under what interstellar code of law?

The sooner we ask those questions and find answers to them, the better. Otherwise we'll have another "Wild West" up there, with life on other rocks endangered just because "we need the minerals they sit on"...

Earth Unprepared for Coming Solar Storms

Earth Unprepared for Coming Solar Storms | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it
Humanity needs to be much better prepared for massive solar storms, which can wreak havoc on our technology-dependent society, a prominent researcher warns. Powerful blasts from the Sun have triggered intense geomagnetic storms on Earth before, and they'll do so again.

But at the moment our ability to predict these events and guard against their worst consequences - which can include interruptions of power grids and satellite navigation systems - is lacking, says Mike Hapgood of the British research and technology agency RAL Space.

"We need a much better understanding of the likelihood of space weather disruptions and their impacts, and we need to develop that knowledge quickly," Hapgood, head of RAL Space's space environment group, writes in a commentary in the April 19 issue of the journal Nature.

UFO Discovered on Google Sky (Video)

UFO Discovered on Google Sky (Video) | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it
A gigantic UFO was discovered by a Google Sky user poring over the constellation Sirius which looks man-made. There is no spacecraft in that region of deep space. So what is it? The unidentified flying object looks like a satellite with massive solar panels powering its flight. But its size in relation to the surrounding star field is larger than any satellite ever launched.

"The object seems transparent with stars visible in front and behind it. If the object was added as an image overlay, who put it there? Is Google aware that the program may have been hacked?"

"Searching the sky in the constellation of Sirius, the Dog Star, reveals the UFO and another strange object floating nearby. It seems to be metallic and is shaped aerodynamically."

This is probably not an object made by extraterrestrials, so that’s not the issue raised by the video. The question is, has NASA launched a secret spacecraft, for whatever publicly unknown purpose? What is it being used for?
Tony Ray's comment June 5, 2012 3:04 AM
Cameras of all kinds, from the delicate instruments on satellites to the cameras in your mobile phones can suffer from image artifacts and lens flares, caused by a bright light source scattering and reflecting around the optics. If Google Sky cannot display an image, and we know which imagery Google uses, we can go straight to the source and search the catalogs directly, as you can see in this video. Different programs contain different sets of imagery, WikiSky for example allows us to see imagery from IRAS, the Infrared Astronomical Satellite, one of the original sources for the Planet X claims back in the 1980s.

While searching through the following sites appears a lot more complex than looking through Google, these links will go straight to the data that is being used by these sky programs, and will also have a lot more information about that point in space, depending on how much we want to find out. At it's simplest, you will only need to know the coordinates of the region in space you want to look at, and, handily, this information is usually always given in a video that claims something is being hidden.

NASA SkyView Virtual Observatory is the easiest to use, enter your coordinates, select a survey and away you go.
The SDSS DR7 Finding Chart Tool contains the latest imagery from the SDSS, but be aware that only 25-30% of the sky has been surveyed here, so chances are you'll also find a blank image, but the reason for it is known - the survey has not covered this region of space.
The Hubble Space Telescope has done a lot of work, but has also not surveyed all of the sky, so again, chances are you might not find anything here.
The Infrared Science Archive contains many surveys, including those of IRAS and 2MASS, as well as a Finder Chart tool that allows you to quickly compare images.
In the case of the video above, the image that opens the video is described as a leaked photo from the South Pole Telescope (SPT), and links it to the black box in Google Sky. We can of course check from the sources above what is actually behind the black boxes, should any photographs be shown claiming to be the original content, but in this case we can pursue another route.

Plumes of Light on Saturn moon Enceladus?

Plumes of Light on Saturn moon Enceladus? | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it

The Cassini probe has imaged and analyzed plumes or "jets" on the south pole of Enceladus, one of Saturn's moons.

The plumes contain water ice and carbon, and they measure in at a relatively strong warmth of 'only' minus 120 degrees F (about minus 85 degrees C).

The evidence would seem to indicate that inside the moon we find a source of light and heat, and that the moon has some kind of an atmosphere that could potentially be host to life...

Quantum Honeycomb, Monash University Physics

Quantum Honeycomb, Monash University Physics | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it

A new structure resembling the packed hexagonal form of honeycomb has been predicted and observed in computer models of groups of atoms that are cooled down to a point where they lose their individual identities – a state of matter known as a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC).

The honeycomb in this case is built not from wax but from a regular arrangement of spinning vortices that form holes in the pancake-shaped cloud of atoms. The wavelike behaviour of such BEC clouds has previously been tested by splitting them into two parts and allowing the parts to collide, in experiments that are analogous to Thomas Young's famous 200 year-old experiment with light.

Prompted by previous work on the Young's 3-pinhole interferometer [2], in this research we have shown that if the cloud is instead split into three parts, the pattern of dark stripes observed by Young and previous BEC researchers changes dramatically into the lattice of swirling vortices.

Is there life on Mars? Well it certainly looks like it has CLOUDS

Is there life on Mars? Well it certainly looks like it has CLOUDS | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it

"An amateur astrophotographer has managed to capture recent images of Mars which appear to show cloud like formations on Mars.

Wayne Jaeschke, from West Chester, Pennsylvania, noticed the formations which can be seen rising up from the edge of the Martian disk after he took the pictures on March 20.

Mr Jaeschke, who has a private observatory, said it looked as though the formation had reduced in size but added that it was important to act quickly and investigate the phenomenon."

Well - leave it to the amateurs to discover things we pay the space agencies billions to find out for us...

A New Foundation for Physics, by Quantum Aether Dynamics Institute | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it

This paper, published in PESWiki, lays out a new conception of physics that considers the aether as a basic substrate that supports the existence of particles and therefore of all physical reality as we experience it.

The paper also allows unification of the various forces, a goal that has eluded scientists ever since Einstein tried and failed.

Definitely worth reading if you are into physics and are not satisfied with the somewhat peacemeal approach that branch of science has been taking in modern times.

Water Found on Sun

Water Found on Sun | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it

An international team of scientists, including a University of Waterloo chemistry professor, has conclusively demonstrated that water (actually steam) does exist on the sun, confirming a breakthrough finding made two years ago.

The team used an innovative method to calculate the water spectrum at sunspot temperatures.

(My comment:) An interesting piece of data, which would lend weight to the idea that the sun's heat and light emission is not a consequence of nuclear fusion, and that the sun's surface is relatively cool... something to reflect on.

NASA's Chandra Shows Milky Way is Surrounded by Halo of Hot Gas

NASA's Chandra Shows Milky Way is Surrounded by Halo of Hot Gas | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it
Huntsville AL (SPX) Sep 25, 2012 -
Astronomers have used NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory to find evidence our Milky Way Galaxy is embedded in an enormous halo of hot gas that extends for hundreds of thousands of light years.

The estimated mass of the halo is comparable to the mass of all the stars in the galaxy.

If the size and mass of this gas halo is confirmed, it also could be an explanation for what is known as the "missing baryon" problem for the galaxy.

Baryons are particles, such as protons and neutrons, that make up more than 99.9 percent of the mass of atoms found in the cosmos. Measurements of extremely distant gas halos and galaxies indicate the baryonic matter present when the universe was only a few billion years old represented about one-sixth the mass and density of the existing unobservable, or dark, matter.

In the current epoch, about 10 billion years later, a census of the baryons present in stars and gas in our galaxy and nearby galaxies shows at least half the baryons are unaccounted for.

Perhaps a look at this is long overdue.

Planet X? New Evidence of an Unseen Planet at Solar System's Edge

Planet X? New Evidence of an Unseen Planet at Solar System's Edge | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it
An astronomer has proposed the existence of an unseen planet in the distant outskirts of the solar system. It would explain the peculiar motions of Kuiper belt objects.

"A planet four times the size of Earth may be skirting the edges of the solar system beyond Pluto, according to new research. Too distant to be easily spotted by Earth-based telescopes, the unseen planet could be gravitationally tugging on small icy objects past Neptune, helping explain the mystery of those objects' peculiar orbits."

"The claim comes from Rodney Gomes, a noted astronomer at the National Observatory of Brazil in Rio de Janeiro."

Our Universe Is A Gigantic And Wonderfully Detailed Holographic Illusion - MessageToEagle.com | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it

All what we believe is real, our whole physical world, is - in fact - an illusion being proved by the holographic universe, one of the most remarkable theories of 20th century.

Energy fields are decoded by our brains into a 3D picture, to give the illusion of a physical world.

Despite its apparent materiality, the universe is a kind of 3-D projection and is ultimately no more real than a hologram.

"Our brain mathematically construct objective reality by interpreting frequencies that are ultimately from another dimension, a deeper order of existence that is beyond both space and time:

The brain is a hologram enfolded in a holographic universe!"

What was that? is the question asked in the article.

Is our reality really so limited that we cannot conceive we might be observing a giant space ship using the sun as a reservoir of energy from which to replenish its own reserves?

Dead stars ‘to guide spacecraft’

Dead stars ‘to guide spacecraft’ | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it
… Spacecraft could one day navigate through the cosmos using a particular type of dead star as a kind of GPS. German scientists are developing a technique that allows for very precise positioning anywhere in space by picking up X-ray signals from pulsars.

"These dense, burnt-out stars rotate rapidly, sweeping their emission across the cosmos at rates that are so stable they rival atomic clock performance."

"This timing property is perfect for interstellar navigation, says the team."

"If a spacecraft carried the means to detect the pulses, it could compare their arrival times with those predicted at a reference location. This would enable the craft to determine its position to an accuracy of just five kilometres anywhere in the galaxy."

Global warming: Earth heated up in medieval times without human CO2 emissions

Global warming: Earth heated up in medieval times without human CO2 emissions | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it
A team of scientists led by geochemist Zunli Lu from Syracuse University in New York state found that the Medieval Warm Period was in fact a global phenomenon.

A rare mineral and the oxygen inclusions in it have opened the door to more accurately assess the temperature record based on an analysis of the ice preserved from ancient times.

The researchers found that a few hundred years ago, when Europe was much warmer than it is today, the warming was not confined to Europe, as global warming proponents have asserted, but was indeed a global phenomenon. The warming trend reached as far south as the Antarctic continent.

So we have at least one instance where "global warming" happened without the contribution of human-generated CO2.

What makes us think that this time it's different?

The globe may well be warming, and weather patterns may be changing, but it does not seem to be a matter of industrialization, the burning of oil or car exhaust...

Hints of ice at Mercury's poles

Hints of ice at Mercury's poles | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it
A Nasa spacecraft has found further tantalising evidence for the existence of water ice at Mercury's poles.

Actually the spacecraft delivered the photo which was then matched up with bright points from previous radar observations, overlaid in yellow on the image, indicating spots where what seems like ice is located.

So with good probability there is ice on Mercury.

But I am scooping this article for another reason: The photograph, shows the planet's south pole, with a grid overlay centered on the pole. That pole is marked by what seems to be a perfectly circular and extremely deep opening.

Question: Are circular holes (openings) at the planets' poles an accident or a feature?
